Burdwan, Nov. 29: Governor M.K. Narayanan today said campus violence was not expected from students of universities and colleges in the state.
The governor, while addressing the convocation of Burdwan University, said there had been cases of manhandling of principals and teachers in educational institutions.
“I make this remark since the behaviour of students in quite a few colleges in the state do not measure up to what is expected of a college or university student. Some had even committed the cardinal sin of manhandling the teachers and principals. Nothing can demean a college or university more than such behaviour. It is obvious therefore that in many institutions discipline is relaxed. Professors and teachers are unable or unwilling to control the troublemakers,” the governor said.
