Bhubaneswar: Balasore vigilance sleuths on Thursday registered a case against the sub-inspector of police Mayurbhanj, Kailash Chandra Biswal, for demanding a bribe of Rs 8,000 from Tarani Sen Mandal for releasing him on bail according to the orders of the high court.

Sambalpur: Police are yet to make any arrest in connection with a shootout incident, which took place at Brajaraj Nagar of Jharsuguda district on Wednesday. A youth, identified as Bijay Singh, 24, was shot dead in the incident. “The accused have been identified. Police have launched a manhunt to nab them. Special police teams have been formed. Preliminary investigation hinted at a love affair behind the incident,” said sub-divisional police officer of Brajarajnagar Sushil Panigrahi.
