Don Bosco sports day kicks off

Guwahati, Nov. 29: The annual sports day of Don Bosco School at Panbazar here got under way at the school playground today.

Guwahati Municipal Corporation commissioner Kavitha Padmanabhan declared the games open in the presence of the school’s principal, Antony Thekkel, administrator Sebastian Kuricheal, vice-principal Xavier Beck and coordi- nator Romanus Horo, among others.

The sports events will be held on Friday and Saturday at the Sports Authority of India ground where the students will compete in various athletic events like 100m sprint, 200m dash, 400m race, 800m race, 1,000m walk, long jump, javelin, shot put, hurdle race, etc.
