Four killed in mishap

Samastipur (PTI): Four women were killed and six others injured on Thursday, when a truck on which they were travelling turned turtle at Sarhilla Chowk in Samastipur district. he deceased have been identified as Banda Basaut village residents Amirkaa Devi (50) Suryamukhi Devi (52), Ganga Devi (48) and Seema Devi (46), said superintendent of police Varun Kumar Sinha, adding that the fertiliser-laden truck in which they were travelling met with the accident after the driver lost control.

Dowry death

Patna: Additional district and sessions judge, Patna City, Ravindra Patwari on Thursday sentenced Deepak Paswan, a resident of Chailitad under the jurisdiction of Alamganj police station, to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment in connection with the dowry death of his wife Gayatri Devi.

Reopen

Patna: The members of Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industry expressed happiness at the reopening of the Nalanda Biscuit Company, Patna, at a function to re-launch the unit on Thursday.

Water use

Patna: Water resources minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary said his department’s decision to allow Abhijeet Group Power Plant to use water from river Chandan in Banka would not affect farmers. He said the decision has been taken keeping in mind the farmers’ interests.
