College staff shot at

Patna, Nov. 28: Uday Pratap Singh, an employee of Maharaja College under Veer Kuer Singh University, Ara, was shot at by unidentified criminals at Ara in Bhojpur on Wednesday.

The victim was rushed to Ara sadar hospital. Singh was later referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital.

Jail head shift

Patna: Mahesh Rajak, the jailor of Sitamarhi divisional jail, has been appointed in-charge of the divisional jail in Sheohar. Twenty-two warders were shifted from Shaheed Khudiram Bose Central Jail, Muzaffarpur and Sitamarhi divisional jail to Sheohar jail.

Patna: The state government has sanctioned six posts, including an assistant and two posts of senior clerk, for the judicial probe commission headed by justice (retd) Madhvendra Sharan to inquire into the Forbesganj firing.

Bank branch

Patna: The BJP MLA from Kumhrar, Arun Kumar Sinha, inaugurated a new branch of Corporation Bank at Doctorsí Colony, in Kankerbagh on Wednesday.

Tax norm

Patna: Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Wednesday said the new entry tax, which has been raised from 4 per cent to 5, on items such as coal, computer hardware, steel and plastic pipes, telephone and its parts will be applicable only in personal use.

Patna: The staff selection commission has served a formal notice to 56 newly-appointed sub-inspectors, asking them to explain why they should not be dismissed from service for violating prescribed rules of job quota.
