Calcutta, Nov. 27: City-based Pailan Group today announced three projects in Bengal in collaboration with overseas partners at a total investment of Rs 250 crore.
Pailan Group chairman Apurba Saha said the company was looking to set up a manufacturing unit for non-PVC bottles and soft fluid bags used in medical institutions for storing saline and disposable syringe on 30 acres belonging to the company at an industrial park near Singur.
The units will come up in collaboration with Chinese firm Hunan China Sun Pharmaceutical. The company is also looking to expand its food processing plant at the same location to manufacture French fries in association with Netherlands-based Kiremko.
“While the unit for non PVC bottles will come up within six months, the disposable syringe unit will take about a year. The extension of the French fries unit will happen very soon,” Saha said, adding that both firms will offer machinery and technical knowhow to Pailan.
Bottles of 100, 250 and 500ml sizes will be manufactured from these units. “It will be the first such facility in eastern India,” Saha said.
