Honeymoon travels from Manali to Mykonos

- Newly-wed couples book exotic destinations in India & abroad to make post-marriage trip memorable

A memorable honeymoon is like an icing on the cake for the newly-wed. Those who have tied the knot or would soon get married are wracking their brain to shortlist a perfect honeymoon destination this winter.

“You need a perfect destination for a prefect honeymoon. It is the time when the newly-weds get to know each other and then cherish the experience for the lifetime. This is the reason why selecting a good honeymoon destination is so important,” said Karan Khaitan, a Bangalore-based chartered accountant. The native of Patna got engaged to Calcutta-based chartered accountant Priyanka Singhania on November 22.

So, where in the world is the perfect love destination? When it comes to selecting one, the lovebirds have a wide range of destinations popping up in their minds.

The destinations vary from Singapore to the Virgin Islands in Greece and from Goa to Gangtok.

“My husband has a liking for sandy beaches. Philippines could be a great option. From active volcano tours to the sun-kissed white sand beaches, Philippines has it all. The estimated airfare via Bangkok is Rs 95,000 and my husband is all for it,” said Vatsala Rai, a newly-wed working with a private firm in the city.

For Pushkar Upadhyay, the head of food and beverages department at Hayatt International, New Delhi, honeymoon is freaky. “My wife wanted to spend quality time with me on a luxury cruise. Mykonos, the Greek island, is wealthy in granite, has great beaches and a happening nightlife. A package of 14 days would cost us around Rs 1,11,260,” said Upadhyay, who is getting married to Ranu Narone, on December 6.

Not every couple is thinking of travelling abroad, though. For them, the beautiful landscapes of Manali and the picturesque beaches of Goa are the honeymoon draw.

“Some couples prefer a foreign trip for their honeymoon, several others want to explore the rich culture of our country during honeymoon. The popular ones are Manali, Goa, Kerala, Jaisalmer, Darjeeling and Gangtok. Manali is the most preferred honeymoon spot this winter,” said Shailesh Kumar, the chief executive of city-based Nalanda Travels.
