Dispur College, Paschim on top

Guwahati, Nov. 25: Dispur College and Paschim Guwahati College registered victories in the 5th All Assam Lauhapurush Premoda Kanta Sarma inter-college cricket tournament organised by North-Eastern Entrepreneurship Development Society at Latasil playground here today.

Dispur College drubbed Guwahati College of Architecture by nine wickets, while Paschim Guwahati got the better of Institute of Engineering and Management Studies.

In the first match, put to bat, GCA were bundled out for 92 in 18 overs. In reply, Dispur raced to their target in 8.4 overs, losing the wicket of topscorer Subrata Paul who made 28 in 30 balls.

Akhil Das and Alokesh Das remained unbeaten on 10 and seven respectively.

Subrata was adjudged Man of the Match.

In the afternoon, IEMS opted to bat and made 119 in 16.5 overs.

Deepankar Rongpi played a cameo, scoring 52 off just 43 balls, a knock laced with six boundaries and a six.

For Paschim Guwahati, paceman and Man of the Match Ratul Kalita took a hattrick to finish with a spell of four for 21 in three overs.

Nekibur Rahman also bagged four for 23 in 2.5 overs.

In reply, Paschim Guwahati achieved their target in 14.3 overs, putting up 121 for four on the board. Nripen Das topscored with 32 off 28 balls, Pranjit Rajbongshi was unbeaten on 27 off 22 balls while Ratul Kalita made 25 runs off 21 balls. For IEMS, Banajit Das took two wickets for 34 in 3.3 overs. Rongpi and Rintu Kalita bagged one each.
