Swann on song

Cheteshwar Pujara was finally dismissed after facing 790 deliveries and making 382 runs. He is now placed third behind, Tendulkar (497 runs) and Dravid (473 runs), in the list of most runs scored between dismissals.

In his career, including first class, list A and T20 matches, Pujara was stumped for the first time.

Harbhajan Singh became Greame Swann’s 200th Test victim. He reached the milestone in his 48th Test. Swann is the first English and the fifth Test off-spinner to reach this landmark after M. Muralidharan (800), Harbhajan (406), Lance Gibbs (309), Saqlain Mushtaq (208). Swann now has 202 wickets.

Swann is now the second quickest to take 200 Test wickets in terms of number of days. Shane Warne (1140 days) leads the list followed by Swann (1445 days), Ian Botham (1496 days) and Kapil Dev (1612 days).

It was the first time two Indian spinners (Ashwin and Ojha) have opened the Indian bowling in 1st/2nd innings of a Test match. However, two spinners have opened the Indian bowling several times in the 3rd and 4th innings of a Test match.
