Three held
Three men were arrested in Garia late on Thursday for allegedly possessing a country-made gun and three daggers. Police said five men were spotted near Garia Bazar around 11.45pm. When cops challenged them, two fled but the rest were caught. Police said the group had confessed that they had been planning to commit a robbery.
Trains cancelled
Twenty-nine local trains between Dum Dum and Barasat stand cancelled from 10am till midnight on Saturday for the commissioning of an automatic signalling system between Dum Dum Cantonment and Birati stations. On Sunday, 13 trains will remain cancelled.
Cheats in net
Two men — Biswajit Banerjee and Debasish Ghosh — were arrested on Friday for allegedly cheating several people of their money by promising them high returns.
