Houses gutted
Dhubri, Nov. 21: Altogether 12 houses were gutted in two incidents of fire that broke out in Kachkhana village under Tamarhat police station and Kachuar-khas village under Dhubri police station in Dhubri district last night. Property worth Rs 7 lakh were destroyed.
Vehicle tax
Guwahati: Transport minister Chandan Brahma on Wednesday called upon all the northeastern states to come to a consensus on the issue of parity of motor vehicle tax. Brahma said the tax process should be hassle-free and not hinder the free movement of vehicles.
Cremated
Guwahati: The cremation of 75-year-old Shiva Sharma, litterateur and retired principal of Madhabdev College in Lakhimpur district, was performed in Lakhimpur on Wednesday. Sharma died in Delhi on Monday night.
10 injured
Dhubri: Around 10 passengers were injured when a Cooch Behar-bound bus coming from Itanagar fell into a ditch by NH 31 at Telipara in Dhubri district on Wednesday morning. The injured have been admitted to Dhubri civil hospital.
