Highway blockade
Tezpur, Nov. 20: A number of organisations today blocked National Highway 52 for five hours at various places in Sonitpur district to protest against the alleged failure of the administration to trace an abducted youth of Misamari Bherbheri. Suman Sahu, 25, was abducted on November 8 near the Sonai-Rupai wildlife sanctuary of Sonitpur by suspected UNLA militants.
Mishap
Dibrugarh: Biki Verma, 16, died on Tuesday morning after the motorcycle on which he was riding pillion skid at Chabua in the district. Biki died on the spot after his head hit the ground.
Nominated
Dibrugarh: Professor Karabi Deka Hazarika, the director of Dr Bhupen Hazarika Centre for Performing Arts, Dibrugarh University, has been nominated for the membership of the general council of the Sahitya Akademi. Hazarika had earlier been selected for this position from 2003 to 2007.
Workshop
Kokrajhar: A media sensitisation workshop on immunisation was held at Rupnath Brahma civil hospital, Kokrajhar on Monday.
