Assam A clinch 3 points

Guwahati, Nov. 20: Assam A clinched three points by virtue of a first innings lead from their drawn four-day CK Nayudu Trophy (under-25) plate group B last league match against Chhattisgarh A in Raipur today.

Resuming their first innings at overnight 252 for five, in reply to Assam’s first innings total of 515, the home side were all out for 356 in 152.3 overs this afternoon.

Assam A were 67 for four in 23 overs in their second innings when play was called off for the fourth and final day today. Chhattisgarh’s overnight not out batsmen P. Roy and Vikrant Rajput rallied on for some time this morning to be out for 53 (4x3) and 67 (4x8). Besides, V. Dubey today chipped in with another knock of 33 (4x4) while tailender Pratik Raj remained unbeaten on 14 (4x2).

Assam pacer Pritam Das returned with figures of three for 97 and Samik Das claimed two for 41.

In Assam’s second innings, opener Rishav Das scored 27 (4x4) and Kangkan Das remained not out on 17 (4x2).

Pratik Raj of the home side accounted for two dismissals for 29 runs while Jagjot Gill and V. Kushwah claimed one each.

With today’s three points, Assam wind up their campaign with 11 points to be placed third in the group tally. Hyderabad and Andhra Pradesh qualified for the knockouts with 29 and 12 points respectively.
