Xaverians up for reunion

St Xavier’s School is set for another old boys’ reunion in January 2013, with its alumni outfit keen to repeat the success of the diamond jubilee celebrations earlier this year.

Hazaribagh Old Xaverians’ Association (Hoxa), which will organise a three-day Grand Alumni Homecoming starting on January 25, has begun preparations and uploaded all information related to the event on its website. The association has asked former students to confirm their participation and register online.

Other than the annual Hoxa general body meeting, the school will also celebrate the golden jubilee of the 1962 batch and silver jubilee of the 1987 batch.

School principal Father P.J. James said the three-day event would be a reunion of old friends, classmates and teachers and a trip down memory lane. “The alumni will have many memorable experiences and success stories to share. It will be a wonderful opportunity for them to renew old ties,” he added.

The registration charges are Rs 3,000 for a family of four and Rs 2,000 for individuals. It will offer the participants welcome kits, breakfast, lunch and dinner for two days, besides entertainment packages including games and cultural programmes.

Hoxa has requested the former students to register before January 15 to ensure smooth preparations.

Hoxa members have held a few meetings and are forming committees for the big event. They were enthused with the huge turnout in the diamond jubilee celebrations in January, with over 400 former students including many from abroad rushing in.

The Hoxa website, which was launched during the diamond jubilee, has also been big hit among former students or “Hoxans” as they get updates on activities at their alma mater and also sign in for live chat with old friends.

Joint Secretary of Hoxa central committee Israrul Haque said they were expecting 300 alumni to attend the January meet. Hoxa has called a meeting on December 24.
