Ahmedabad: He got two wickets in two balls on Sunday, but Umesh Yadav dislikes the Motera pitch because the bowlers have to put in a lot of effort to dismiss batsmen.
“The wicket has become very flat… It helped the spinners earlier on, but it has now become very easy to bat on. There is no help for the bowlers.
“We have to put in a lot of effort to get something out of it. I took my wickets after a lot of effort,” Umesh said at the media conference.
The pacer believes that they would need patience to wrap up the England innings. “It would need a lot of patience on the final day to get wickets,” Umesh said.
Though he has been probably the fastest bowler in the Test so far, Umesh pointed out that line and length were more important. “Pace is nice… But on this type of wicket, line and length is the key,” he said.
Umesh’s teammate Chesteshwar Pujara had earlier commented that England have a fragile batting line-up. But the bowler thinks otherwise. “England are looking good… They now have a lead too. Cook has batted brilliantly and England are looking compact.
“We waited for Cook to make a mistake, but he didn’t commit any. We will have to give our best on Monday.”
