Murder suspect held

Shillong, Nov. 18: Meghalaya police yesterday arrested the main suspect behind the alleged murder of a schoolteacher hailing from Assam.

Last night, the police from Mawsynram under East Khasi Hills district arrested Mohammad Dil Bahar Hussain from Nagaon in Assam.

According to the police, Hussain is the main suspect behind the murder of Mohammad Abdul Sattar, a teacher of the Mawsynram Higher Secondary School, around 55km from here.

“Hussain has been arrested from Nagaon and he is being brought to Shillong for further interrogation,” a police official said.

On Wednesday, Sattar’s body was recovered from his residential quarters at Mawsynram Higher Secondary School. On the following day, the police sent the body to his hometown in Nagaon.
