Three changes in Bengal squad

Sreevats Goswami

Calcutta: After losing to Punjab in their previous game, Bengal have made three changes to their squad for their Ranji Trophy match against Gujarat, beginning on Saturday, at the Eden.

Parthasarathi Bhattacharjee have been included in place of Jayojit Basu, Arnab Nandi makes way for Sreevats Goswami, while Abhishek Jhunjhunwala replaces left-arm spinner Aritra Chatterjee.

Ashok Dinda too has been named in the 15-member squad, and according to sources, the pacer might return from Ahmedabad if he is not a part of India’s final XI for the first Test against England, which starts from Thursday.

Pacer Shami Ahmed, who missed the first two matches due to injury, is back in the side.

It could be a comeback of sorts for the seasoned Jhunjhunwala, who’s tipped to replace Writam Porel at No. 3.
