Easy wins for Naharol, Eastern

Imphal, Nov. 12: Naharol Yaipha Thourang Club and Eastern Sporting Union drubbed Northern Iril Valley Sports Organisation and Andro Mahila Mandal respectively in the league round matches of the Baby Suchitra Khuraijam Memorial Junior Girls Football Tournament at Khuman Lampak main stadium today. Both teams defeated their opponents by 7-0 goals each. In the first match Naharol had an easy win. M. Binaranai Devi scored the first goal in 19th minute. L. Meneka, N. Rani, M. Radhapyari and Kim Kom, who scored two goals each, were the other scorers.

The other match saw Eastern Sporting Union dominating Andro Mahila Mandal throughout the match. M.K. Kashmina scored three goals, S. Zinina and Th. Merina scored two goals each.

Badminton: Air India, West Bengal, Kerala and Chhattisgarh stormed into the boys’ singles semi-finals of the team event for the Narang Cup in the 37th junior national badminton championship, under way at Khuman Lampak sports complex, in Imphal.

In the girls’ team event Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and West Bengal stormed into the semi-final for the Sati Qureshi Cup.

Gold Cup soccer: Green Valley thrashed Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB) 4-3 via tie-breaker to lift the 13th Bodoland Martyrs’ Gold Cup football championship at Kokrajhar District Sports Association today.

Official Suspended: The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has put its joint secretary Bishnu Ram Nunisa under suspension for five years on charges of “indiscipline and behaviour unbecoming of his position” leading to a ruckus in the ACA office.
