3 hurt in fire

Barpeta, Nov. 12: Three persons were injured when a fire broke out at a fire cracker factory in Barpeta district last night. Sources said the fire broke out at the Assam Aatoshbazi Udyog in Mazor Hati in the district. Goods worth Rs 25 lakh were destroyed in the fire. Police said the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. The injured have been admitted to GMCH.

Curfew eased

Dhubri: The Dhubri district administration has relaxed the period of curfew till 11pm from on Monday. The curfew will be reimposed from Wednesday night.

Poultry ban

Kokrajhar: The Kokrajhar district administration banned the import of poultry with immediate effect from Monday after Karnataka and neighboring Bhutan confirmed bird flu. Additional district magistrate D. Boro directed that there shall be no import of poultry and poultry products from outside Assam.

Prohibition

Guwahati: The Kamrup (metro) district magistrate Mrinal Gogoi prohibited use of fireworks and plying of private engine and country boats in the Brahmaputra during Chhath Puja.

Medical camp

Dhubri: The army organised a free medical camp at Krishnakali tea estate of Dhubri district n Monday.

Body found

Guwahati: The body of a KMSS member, Sanjit Gogoi Pegu, was found on the bank of Brahmaputra at Machkhowa under Bharalumukh police station here.

144 CrPC

Guwahati: The Kamrup (metro) district administration on Monday imposed Section 144 prohibiting assembly of five or more persons at any public place, carrying of arms, ammunitions in any public places or vehicles, rally, meeting, including two or three-wheelers, processions and shouting slogans in any public place, highways and shouting slogans inciting communal violence at any place, gambling in public places and use of loudspeakers in the district with immediate effect.
