Andhra A in sight of victory

Guwahati, Nov. 11: Andhra Pradesh A were in sight of an outright victory against hosts Assam A at close on the third day of play in the CK Nayudu Trophy (U-25) plate group B match at SM Dev stadium in Silchar today.

After a first innings lead of 65 runs yesterday, the home side crumbled to a bowling blitz by Andhra paceman M. Ajay Kumar to be bowled out for 113 in the second innings. The visitors were comfortably placed at 120 for five in 65 overs in the second innings when stumps were drawn today.

Assam, put to bat first, posted 184 in 84.3 overs and Andhra were all out for 119 in 39.4 overs yesterday, thanks to a five-wicket haul by medium pacer Pritam Das. Barring opener Rishav Das (50) none of the Assam batsmen could score well in the second innings.
