Bhaichung to decide coach’s fate

Calcutta: Bhaichung Bhutia is arriving on Sunday to take a call on coach Philippe De Ridder’s future as United Sikkim Football Club (USFC) coach.

Sources said the former India captain will have a meeting on Sunday with the players and the coach following the humiliating 1-10 rout against Prayag United Sports Club in an I-League match, on Saturday.

United Sikkim’s next match is on next Sunday against Sporting Clube de Goa in Margao and it will not be a surprise if the newly-promoted I-League team give De Ridder the boot.

De Ridder though at the post-match conference said he would not quit. “Why should I? I am confident the boys will bounce back.

Saturday’s hero Ranty Martins, meanwhile, said that he wants to achieve something with his new club.

“I am here to win trophies. I will keep pushing myself to achieve that. I want to be a champion with United Sports Club.”

Ranty said three Ds keeps him going. “Dedication, discipline and determination... These are the three things which helped me to reach where I am today.”
