Pranab on litigation
New Delhi, Nov. 10 (PTI): President Pranab Mukherjee today said there is a high degree of public frustration over protracted and expensive court litigation and suggested that alternate dispute redressal mechanism like mediation should be used to provide speedy justice.
e also said it is not sufficient to popularise mediation only in cities but awareness about it should be spread at the grass roots level also.
Maoist attack
Hazaribagh: Maoists on Friday waylaid a van ferrying prisoners, killing three policemen and a non-Maoist prisoner and freeing their seven comrades in a daylight attack in Giridih town.
Suicide
Guwahati: Police on Saturday said a couple were found hanging inside a lodge in Ganeshguri here on Friday. The police found a suicide note which said they loved each other but the relation created problem as the woman was the boy’s aunt.
Carcass found
Jorhat: A carcass of a leopard was recovered on the NH 37 from Panitola in Dibrugarh district on Saturday morning. Forest officials said that the leopard was probably hit by a vehicle.
Offices shut
Itanagar, (PTI): Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists and Arunachal Press Club on Saturday decided to shut down all newspaper offices and electronic media offices for two days from Monday to protest against attacks on media houses and mediapersons.
