Wim was surprised

Calcutta: Wim Koevermans was not only disappointed when India’s friendly against Yemen was cancelled, he was surprised as well. And the reason for that is quite weird.

When the India coach tried to contact the Yemeni authorities to check the status of the match, he failed. As reported earlier, the AIFF, too, had failed in their endeavour to get in touch with the Yemen federation. It was then that Koevermans sent an email to his Yemen counterpart Tom Saintfiet. The Belgian replied, but his reply left India’s Dutch coach surprised.

“I was obviously very disappointed with the cancellation of the match… Worried about the status of the match, I wrote an email to their coach, informing that Yemen officials have expressed their inability to play the tie. But he said he was not at all aware that the match has been cancelled… That was quite strange,” Koevermans said.
