Guwahati, Nov. 9: Hosts Assam A were bundled out for a modest 184 in 84.3 overs in the first innings of their C.K. Nayudu Trophy (Under-25) plate group B match against Andhra Pradesh A at S.M. Dev Stadium in Silchar today.
Put in to bat, the home side, that had their conditioning as well as selection camp at the same ground, lost quick wickets against some superb bowling by Andhra paceman M. Ajay Kumar to end up in a precarious situation by lunch.
Skipper Kunal Saikia with 23 (4x3) and local lad Soumik Das who top-scored with 55 (4x3, 6x3) tried to hold fort in the middle order but could not sustain their effort for long.
Another Silchar boy, Pritam Das chipped in with a stroke-filled 30 (4x6).
As many as six Assam batsmen were out for single-digit scores.
Ajay Kumar returned with figures of six for 49.
Batting 2.2 overs in the post-tea session, the visitors lost the wicket of opener Sreekanth Koripalli who scored just five runs (4x1) to be reduced to 13 for 1 at close of play. Pritam Das accounted for the only dismissal.
