Oil trio profit
New Delhi, Nov. 9: Three state-owned oil firms — IOC, HPCL and BPCL — have posted profit in the quarter ended September on the back of compensation given by the government and discount by upstream firms. IOC has posted a net profit of Rs 9,611 crore, HPCL, Rs 2,327 crore and BPCL, Rs 5,034 crore. The government gave the three firms a compensation of Rs 30,040 crore for selling diesel, domestic LPG cylinder and kerosene below cost in the first half of the year.
Coal India
Calcutta, Nov. 9: Coal India has reported an 18.7 per cent jump in consolidated net profit at Rs 3,078.08 crore for the second quarter ended September against Rs 2,593.11 crore in the same period of last fiscal. Net sales were up 10 per cent at Rs 14,572.54 crore.
Indian Hotels
Mumbai, Nov. 9: Tata group firm Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) today said it was reviewing the rejection of its takeover bid by the board of luxury hotel chain Orient-Express and was considering options with respect to their offer to acquire Orient-Express.
