Bagan are cautious

New Delhi: McDowell Mohun Bagan will try to continue their winning momentum when they face minnows ONGC at the Nehru Stadium, here, on Friday.

Bagan have registered a fine win against Sporting Clube de Goa in their last I-League match, courtesy captain Okolie Odafe’s hat-trick.

On Friday, the green and maroon brigade will again bank on Odafe’s goal-poaching skills.

Bagan coach Mridul Bane-rjee, the man who has been credited for taking the team back to winning ways, however remained cautious. “ONGC are a good team and were unlucky not to get more points,” he said.

But the coach said he was disappointed with the ground condition at the stadium.

“We expected it to be better. Only a couple of months ago, India won the Nehru Cup here. We practised at Nehru Stadium this morning and were not impressed,” said Banerjee.

Despite the ground conditions, the coach wants to remain about the team’s chances.

His counterpart, Subroto Bhattacharya, is worried over the fact that his team could not have a full-fledged practice session before their crucial match.
