Clutch it right

A STATEMENT CLUTCH CAN MAKE OR BREAK YOUR PARTY ATTIRE. t2 WENT TREND-SPOTTING ON SATURDAY NIGHT

how these experts bag it!

“I personally prefer a bronze clutch because it goes with everything and it is not too in-your-face. A gold clutch is also necessary. So, basically, the metallic colours like pewter and matte silver are what you need to have in your wardrobe. The clutch I want to buy is a matte gold Jimmy Choo because it matches my Jimmy Choo shoes!”

“The perfect night-out clutch should be big enough to hold my mobile phone, a credit card and some cash and at least a lipstick. It should make your outfit look better but not overshadow it. Bling is in. Since it is Diwali, everything has to be a little ethnic also. For me, the best clutch is the classic Bottega Veneta Knot. It goes with everything. I have it in gold and several other colours.”

“I am a complete clutch lover. My personal collection has Gucci, Alexander McQueen and Bottega. I am in love with McQueen clutches because they are so edgy and that is the way I dress. What kind of clutch you carry depends on what you are wearing. With a classic dress, it would be a Bottega clutch… the matte look. With jeans and jacket, a skull-head clutch would look edgy. If you are wearing a dress with Chantilly lace, carry a Dolce & Gabbana clutch. I love Judith Leiber clutches but I think they add a couple of years. A knuckle clutch from McQueen is next on my shopping list!”

“For the evening, a clutch should be amorous with diamantes and sequins. I prefer a black or silver for the night and for the day, something like a white satin or may be even a bright pink. There was this Sabyasachi clutch that we were carrying for the Delhi Couture Week this season. I loved it!”

“If you are wearing something extremely glamorous or club-like, it is always a good idea to go for a basic pretty box clutch. For a cocktail party, it makes sense to carry a smaller bejewelled number. If girls want to experiment and go slightly androgynous, carry a really nice leather maxi clutch. I really love this acrylic large clutch from Chanel’s fall-winter line with crystals all over it. I will be afraid to carry it but have it as a collectible.”
