Guwahati, Nov. 1: Assam border area development department minister Siddique Ahmed held a consultative committee meeting here.
Siddique stressed the timely completion and proper utilisation of funds and also suggested the deputy commissioners to find out modalities for easier and speedy implementation of various schemes under their respective jurisdictions.
The minister announced that a construction cell would soon be set up in the directorate of border area development and asked the officials to expedite the necessary process for the same.
The secretary of border area, G.D. Tripathi, also apprised about the disputes with neighbouring states.
He mentioned the recent development at Dholai in Cachar district along Mizoram where goons had demolished the border pillars.
Siddique, during his visit to the spot last month, asked the officials of both Assam and Mizoram to conduct joint verification of the area and to take up measures to reconstruct the pillars.
