Priyana triumphs

Guwahati, Oct. 30: Priyana Kalita claimed double crowns in the 19th All Guwahati Junior Doubles Tennis Championship, organised by the North East Tennis Foundation, that concluded on its courts here today.

Kalita won both the girls’ under-14 and under-18 doubles titles. She partnered Saba Ahmed to beat Anisha Sarma and Janashri Saikia 6-0, 6-2 for the under-14 title.

In the under-18 final, the tandem of Priyana and Rizuwana Begum got the better of Rhia Borkataki and Saba Ahmed 6-1, 6-1.

Arunanshu and his brother Abhinanshu Borthakur annexed the under-18 boys’ doubles title defeating the duo of Ankit Talukdar and Sakib Ahmed 6-0, 6-1.

In the under-12 boys’ event, Sheikh Md Iftikar and Kaushik J. Bora prevailed over Debashish Medhi and Ronit Bora 6-1, 6-2 for the crown. The boys’ under-14 final was a gruelling affair where Aman Deo and Changiz Razdhan prevailed over Jugal Baruah and Ronit Bora 5-7, 6-3, 10-6 for the honours.
