Hot wheels: An artist’s impression of the mobile BMW showroom
|
Statement sedans. Sporty SUVs. Add a three-letter word — BMW — to your Diwali wish list.
The legendary German brand is coming to Jamshedpur in November for the first time to woo the city’s movers and shakers at its fortnight-long mobile showroom in Beldih Club.
Calcutta-based OSL Prestige, the only BMW dealers in eastern India, hit upon the November 1-15 mobile showroom idea based on a sound premise.
“People in Jamshedpur are moneyed, well-travelled and brand-conscious. Many would love to flaunt a luxury car. In the run-up to Diwali, we are giving an opportunity to car lovers to test drive the BMW of their dreams right in their hometown. They wouldn’t have to go up all the way to Calcutta,” said Mayukh Biswas, OSL Prestige sales consultant.
He added that BMW had 21 showrooms in India, but Jharkhand didn’t have any yet, though they sold two or three luxury cars to residents of the state every month.
“You can say this mobile venture is the baby step based on market research which may lead to the launch of a permanent BMW showroom in Jharkhand,” OSL Prestige marketing executive Surojit Saha added.
That’s an invitation to existing Jamshedpur traffic-stoppers — Volkswagen, Skoda, Nissan, Honda and others — to go green.
So far, the BMW test drive took place based on online requests by interested customers, but specifically restricted to one model.
The mobile showroom will showcase at least five BMW models — 3, 5 and 7 series of sedans, as well as x1 and x3 sports utility or activity vehicles — brought from Calcutta.
Visitors can troop in all the 15 days from 10am for some slick speed dating to finally find the true love of their life on wheels.
A quick sneak peek reveals that the price tag will range from a premium Rs 27 lakh to the decidedly decadent Rs 90 lakh-plus.
The BMW 7 series starts from around Rs 90 lakh. The BMW 5 series falls in the bracket of Rs 40 lakh and Rs 50 lakh. The 3 series is between Rs 29.7 lakh and Rs 33 lakh.
The x1 comes for around Rs 27-30 lakh and x3 around Rs 44 lakh.
The organisers are also banking on the swish venue to make a lasting first impression.
“Jharkhand loves to splurge on luxury brands. And we are also giving the mobile showroom a plush look. Made of ply, fibre and glass panels, the classy venue will offset the elegance of the gleaming cars,” Biswas smiled.
