Kangjam claims title

Imphal, Oct. 29: Kangjam Dineshore of the Young Body-Building Gym of Pishum won the Senior Mr Imphal West District title last night at Gandhi Memorial hall here.

Paonam Romeshore of Paona Memorial Haksel Kanglup of Khamnam Bazar finished second while Mutum Manoranjan of the 35 battalion Assam Rifles won the third position.

In the junior category Kh. Ibotomba of Calisthenics Health Circuit of Tera won the Junior Mr Imphal West District title while O. Kumar and Jaichandra Nongmaithem, both of Young Body-Building Gym, won the second and third positions respectively.

The event was organised by Imphal West District Body-Building and Fitness Association.

Meanwhile, Manipur Strength-Lifting Association will organise the 9th state level senior men and women, first junior men and women, 1st sub-junior men and women, third master men and women strength lifting competitions and second physically challenged men and first physically challenged women bench press championships from November 11 at Khuman Lampak sports complex.

Manipurís team for the junior national Federation Cup and master handicapped championships, which will be held in Uttar Pradesh from December 22 to 24, will be selected from among the winners of the championships.

The organisers have started issuing forms for participation in the state championships. The last date for submission of form is November 5. The weight measurement will be carried out on November 10 at the Khuman Lampak sports complex.

Judo: Prabhabati College won the menís overall team championship title in the inter-Manipur University men and womenís judo championship, which concluded yesterday at Pemton College in Imphal West, winning two gold medals and one silver medal.

In the womenís section S. Kulla Womenís College won the champions title by winning two silvers and two bronze medals.
