Dhubri, Oct. 27: Two Ulfa cadres were arrested last night in an army-police joint operation at Thorko under Lakhipur police station in Goalpara district.
The 13 Sikh Regiment and Lakhipur police personnel arrested the duo — self-styled sergeant Gopesh Hajong, 35, and Durlabha Hajong, 30 — after security was tightened around Lakhipur following information about movement of Ulfa cadres in the area.
Five Chinese grenades, one pistol, 20 rounds of AK-47 rifle were recovered from the duo.
Lakhipur police station officer in-charge Kamal Chandra Sil said the duo, who hail from Idubi village under Mancachar police station of Dhubri district, were active in this part of the district since 2009.
