Ranchi, Oct. 27: Chief minister Arjun Munda today said a clear road map was required to ensure education of the poor and needy.
He was speaking at a national seminar on Education Imperatives for Change — Making Jharkhand a Knowledge Hub organised by Jharkhand Rai University and ASSOCHAM.
Munda said it was for the first time that academics, industry associates and policy makers had gathered together for an education seminar and the time had come to take education to the next level in the state.
“The government is committed to provide quality education to students of the state and the university will cater to the requirements of the youth,” he added.
Jharkhand Rai University vice chancellor Savita Sengar stressed on empowerment of women. Steps should be taken to strengthen girls by providing them with education and avenues to attain higher education through the aegis of the government, Sengar said.
She added that the need of the hour was to understand expectation of the industries. Education should be imparted in such a way that a student is ready to meet the challenges and needs of the industry. Both students and teachers should understand the change required in education to bridge the gap between education and achieving employment thereafter, Sengar added.
ASSOCHAM chairman Vinay Rai said the state is still in a nascent stage in terms of higher education. ASSOCHAM will provide technical support to the government to ensure that education sector gets a boost, Rai added. Apart from traditional courses, he stressed on the importance of vocational courses.
“Training of manpower in a proper way to cope with the changing demands of industry is the way to success. Education needs to penetrate the rural interiors of the state which will empower the youth and they will be able to eke out a better living for themselves,” Rai said.
