12 angry jurors

12 NOT OUT: Theatrecian treated theatre buffs to an evening of intrigue, suspense and simmering emotions with 12 Angry Jurors, the Indian adaptation of Reginald Rose’s Twelve Angry Men. The play was staged in association with t2 at Gyan Manch on October 18. The original plot — of a teenaged boy charged with the murder of his father and at the mercy of a trial by jury, where all, except one, finds him guilty — was given an Indian context with the jurors accruing their own sets of complexes, prejudices and grievances that prevented them from viewing the case objectively. The actors made the audience oscillate between laughter and pathos. The use of mime to depict the crime was interesting.
