Agartala, Oct. 20: Tripura’s 856-km border with Bangladesh has been sealed to prevent illegal transborder movement during Durga Puja.
The DIG (operations) Nepal Chandra Das said, “The matter had been taken up with the BSF authorities here and we made it clear that sealing the border is imperative for foolproof security. The BSF must intensify vigil all along the border to prevent ingress of undesirable elements from Bangladesh as also to curb border crimes.”
“The BSF authorities promptly agreed and the border will remain sealed on all four days of Durga Puja, border vigil has been intensified already from today,” said Das.
The border trade between Tripura and Bangladesh has also been put under suspension for 15 days from yesterday unilaterally by Bangladesh government in view of Durga Puja and Id.
