Hanks in obscenity slip on TV

New York, Oct. 20 (AP): ABC and Tom Hanks have apologised after the actor let slip a swear word during a live appearance on Good Morning America.

Hanks telegraphed his “f-bomb” during an interview yesterday. Anchor Elizabeth Vargas had asked him to speak in his character’s British accent in the movie Cloud Atlas. Hanks said that it was “mostly swear words”, but Vargas told him to go ahead anyway.

He began speaking in a mumble but the obscenity was clearly audible. ABC removed it for subsequent feeds of the show in the midwestern and western parts of the US. Vargas quickly said, “We are so sorry.” Hanks also apologised.
