What did you aspire to become when you were a child?
What is the most memorable incident of your life?
President Pranab Mukherjee is likely to field such questions during an interactive session with students on Navami at Birbhum’s Kirnahar Shibchandra High School, where he studied up to Class X. Mukherjee will be felicitated by the school on October 22 when he comes to his ancestral home in Mirati, 4km from Kirnahar, during Puja. The school authorities have decided to put on display the marks Mukherjee got in the annual examinations from Classes VII to X. School sources said 13 students would get the opportunity to speak to the President or ask him questions during the programme. “We are proud that Pranab Mukherjee, the country’s first Bengali President, is from our school. He studied here from 1946 to 1952. When he came to his ancestral home on June 23, we requested him to come to the school. We have received confirmation of his visit. We will felicitate him and organise a short cultural programme,” said Nilkamal Banerjee, the headmaster. Mukherjee is scheduled to reach the school at 3pm and leave at 3.45pm.
