Power promise for puja days

Residents of Patna can look forward to unhindered power supply all through the day during the four-day Durga Puja festivities this year.

Patna Electric Supply Undertaking (Pesu) would spare residents the usual two to three-hour-long power cuts as they face during the rest of the year. “We have taken up maintenance work for smooth power supply during Durga Puja. We have completed maintenance for 11KV lines, low-tension lines and power sub-stations in both the east and the west circles. Officials have been instructed to carry out re-conducting work and replace separators, if needed,” Pesu general manager-cum-chief engineer Vijay Kumar said.

He added that transformers and low-tension lines from where power would be supplied to the pandals have either been repaired or changed.

Kumar said the committees must take proper connection for pandals. If puja organisers are caught hooking, power theft cases would be slapped on them.

“Bihar State Electricity Board has directed the committees to put up pandals at a safe distance from electric wires and transformers,” he added. Kumar said power-related complaints could be lodged at round-the-clock control rooms to be set up in all the 10 divisions of Pesu.
