Oct. 16: Workers of Madhu Tea Estate met the block development officer of Kalchini today seeking his intervention to end the bonus impasse.
“Around 100 workers visited the BDO and told him they were not ready to take bonus in instalments,” said Sunil Lohar, the unit secretary of the Akhil Bharatiya Adivasi Vikas Parishad-backed Progressive Tea Workers’ Union (PTWU). “The issue is likely to be resolved by Saturday,” said BDO C.S. Khati.
The deadlock in Bandapani continued today. “We could not convince the workers to accept bonus in two instalments, one before Durga Puja and the other before Kali Puja,” Anil Biswas, the manager said.
