Dimna trucker found murdered

A Dimna resident’s bludgeoned body was discovered along NH-33, in Chandil police station area, on Tuesday.

Repeat Colony resident and truck driver Satyandra Singh (30) had not been seen after he left home around 6pm on Monday with his neighbour Tillu Singh.

Satyandra not only drove trucks but also hired out trucks owned by others on commission. His body was found behind a dhaba about 8km from Jamshedpur.

The truck in which the victim left is yet to be traced.

According to the police, the dhaba owner informed the Chandil police about the body. A contact number that the deceased was carrying helped identify him. The piece of paper had several telephone numbers scribbled on it.

Sub-inspector Arvind Singh of Chandil police station said the victim was probably murdered by people who hijacked his truck.

Police said the body could not be identified initially.

“We dialled some of the numbers, and one connected to one K.P. Mishra, owner of a truck and resident of Kashidih, Sakchi,” said the sub-inspector.

Mishra was brought to MGM Medical College mortuary where he immediately identified the body as that of his driver Satyandra.

Satyandra’s wife Reena Devi said Tillu Singh came to their house on Monday evening and left with Satyandra in his truck.

Reena Devi said she called her husband a number of times and spoke to him, but found the phone switched off after 10pm. Tillu Singh cannot be traced.
