Two houses off Garia Station Road, about 1.5km apart, were robbed at gunpoint early on Tuesday, possibly by the same gang.
The gang, which comprised about 15 Hindi-speaking youths whose faces were covered with handkerchiefs, took away cell phones, Rs 22,000 and ornaments worth around Rs 60,000 from the two-storeyed house of land broker Rajesh Dey around 2.45am.
About an hour later, a gang robbed income tax employee Sanjay Halder’s two-storeyed house. He said the robbers took away Rs 90,000, three cell phones and two cameras.
The additional superintendent of police (east), K.P. Barui, said the same gang might have been behind the robberies. “The leaders of the gang were probably released on bail and were working with some teenagers,” said a cop.
