Tennis turf inaugurated

Imphal, Oct. 15: The Association of Tennis Lovers and Chingamathak Young Learners Club inaugurated its deco turf tennis court with the commencement of the 2nd CYLC State-Level Open Tennis Championship at Singjamei in Imphal West.

The deco turf tennis court, the construction of which started in 2007, was formally opened by PHED minister I. Hemochandra Singh, along with president of Manipur Tennis Association, T. Pamei.

Apart from the tennis court, a tennis gallery and practice wall was also separately unveiled.

In the tennis tournament, six players each in the boysí and girlsí category are competing in the under-16 category, while in the menís singles event, there are 30 players in the fray and in the menís doubles event and veteran doubles, there are 20 and nine teams respectively.

The championship will begin tomorrow.

Wrestling medals: National Sports Academy, Imphal, captured 27 medals, including 13 gold in the 12th menís, junior, sub-junior boys and girls, 10th women, junior, sub-junior boys and girls, 5th mini boysí and girlsí Freestyle and Greco Roman State Wrestling Championship at Khuman Lampak sports complex.
