Asansol, Oct. 14: Hundreds of shoppers yesterday shook a leg to Bollywood chartbusters by Calcutta-based band Sparsh in Asansol’s Sentrum Mall, which is celebrating “Pre-Puja shopping experience” in association with t2.
The weeklong celebration, organised by Bengal Shristi, last night saw several young couples dancing to “Rock On…” on the ground floor of the mall.
Sparsh belted out songs from the 1970s to the latest hits. The band also mixed folk songs with western beats to play what they called “Baul Jazz”. “I like it very much here,” a five-year-old said.
The mall witnesses huge footfall, especially in the weekends at Dominos, Café Coffee Day, Reliance Trends, Reliance Footprints and Subway.
In Durgapur, the evening was equally eventful at City Centre Mall, which played host to the launch of singer Raghab Chattopadhyay’s Nazrulgeeti album Ebaar Nazrul produced by Asha Audio.
Families gathered around Kalangan, an open-air auditorium, for the event.
City Centre is a “must-visit” for Durgapur residents before the Pujas. The mall, keeping the festive fervour in mind, has been adorned with traditional Puja decor.
Fun-filled activities by the emcee and a host of other entertaining activities have been lined up through the week to attract shoppers.
“During Puja, everyone wants to unite with loved ones. We at Bengal Shristi organise fun-filled activities for the festive season as this has become an integral part for our lifestyle. The fun and happiness along with music will augment the experience of shopping at Durgapur City Centre which is one of the older retail and entertainment malls in south Bengal,” said Abhishek Bharadwaj, vice-president of marketing at Shristi Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited.
The CD launch was termed “a great experience” by singer Raghab. “A wonderful retail and entertainment destination, a wonderful crowd in Durgapur. The response is just awesome,” he said.
