Murshidabad, Oct. 13: Congress candidate Abhijit Mukherjee, son of Prisedent Pranab Mukherjee, has won by-election to the Jangipur Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal’s Murshidabad District.
He won by a narrow margin of 2,535 votes against CPI-M candidate Muzaffar Hussain.
Congress bagged 39.01% of the votes polled, the CPI-M got 38.91% where as the Bharatiya Janata Party got only 10.06%.
The by-election was held on October 10.
