Alipurduar, Oct. 11: A bomb with a timer stuffed in a schoolbag was found on a private bus near here yesterday evening and defused early this morning.
A 21-year-old youth was arrested today in connection with the case.
Alipurduar police recovered the bomb from the bus plying on the Jaigaon-Rydak route around 5pm yesterday. The police said they had been tipped off on the bomb.
They took the explosive to a deserted place near the Gadadhar bridge on NH31C and it was defused by a bomb squad from Siliguri at1.30am today.
The youth, Tinku Das, was arrested after getting evidence that the bag may belong to him.
