Darjeeling, Oct. 11. Dipen Mallay and four others accused in the murder of the ABGL leader Madan Tamang walked out of custody after paying their bail bonds.
Calcutta High Court had granted bail to Mallay, Sudesh Raimajhi, Tilak Sotang, Sunil Rai and Puran Rai on September 26. With today’s release, all the nine arrested in connection with the May 21, 2010, murder are out on bail.
Dinesh Chandra Rai, the advocate handling the case along with Taranga Pandit and Seshmani Rai, today said: “The bail order had been received here on September 28 and today a bail bond (of Rs 10,000 each) was furnished before the court of the chief judicial magistrate after which all of them walked out of the correction home.”
Mallay after his release said he and his friends were innocent.
“We have always been maintaining that we are innocent and that we have been wrongly framed by the Left Front government to suppress the statehood demand.”
