St Xavier’s School on Thursday beat Ranchi’s Taurian Public School in the first match of the CBSE Cluster-II football tournament in Hazaribagh.
Deputy inspector-general of North Chotanagpur commissionerate Suman Gupta and regional officer of CBSE Patna office S.U. Sorte inaugurated the meet. Principal Father P.J. James said 42 teams from Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha are participating.
While Xavier’s defeated Taurian 4-1, 15 matches were played on Thursday. CBSE has sanctioned Rs 75,000 for the event.
