Munde role

Mumbai, Oct. 10: Gopinath Munde, the BJP’s deputy leader in the Lok Sabha, will lead the party in the Assembly and Lok Sabha polls in Maharashtra and launch an anti-corruption campaign against the Congress-NCP government tomorrow.

The announcement was made by state BJP chief Sudhir Mungantiwar, a close aide of party president Nitin Gadkari, today.

“The party will launch an anti-corruption campaign with the slogan Congress-NCP hatao, bhrashtachar mitao aur Maharashtra ko bachao (throw out the Congress-NCP, end corruption and save Maharashtra). Gopinath Munde will lead the campaign and the party in the Assembly and Lok Sabha polls,” Mungantiwar said.

Munde attacked the NCP on the state irrigation scam and demanded a special investigative team, headed by a retired high court judge, to probe the alleged irregularities. Party leader Ajit Pawar, the senior Pawar’s nephew, had resigned as deputy chief minister recently over allegations he had a role in the scam.
