2 more held for robbery

Two men — Arup Kumar Sinha and Pankaj Das — were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly robbing a trader of Rs 45 lakh on Maniktala bridge on September 30. The gang included two cops — sub-inspector Sunil Das and constable Soumen Jha of Maniktala police station, who along with four others, were remanded in police custody for 12 days on Wednesday. “The SI and the constable have been suspended and a departmental inquiry will soon begin,” said deputy commissioner of police (eastern suburban division), Satyajit Banerjee.

Rajdhani: Eastern Railway will run an additional AC 3-tier coach with the Howrah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express from October 12 to December 1 to tackle the festive rush.

Fire: A fire broke out in a bank on the first floor of the eight-storeyed Barrick Bhavan, near Chandni Chowk Metro station, on Wednesday night. Four tenders brought the blaze under control.

Held for rape: Narayan Bhowmik, 42, was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl, who he had called to his office on October 4 promising a role in a film. The complaint was lodged on Wednesday.

Molest arrest: Vishal Dubey, 22, was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly molesting a student at Raja Peary Mohan College in Uttarpara.

Arms seized: Police seized a cache of arms, including two single-barrel guns and one 36inch improvised gun, in a raid on an abandoned building in Bhangar, on the southern fringes, on Wednesday.
