The Saturday night disco returns to the Calcutta swimming club

While for some it was a time to party, for most it was a trip down memory lane. Saturday night saw the revival of the disco night after a gap of 25 years at The Calcutta Swimming Club. With food, music and friends, members were seen soaking in the relaxed weekend mood.

“It is a moment of joy for all of us as we can once again get together and party like the good old times,” said Ashish Doshi, the club president. In fact, CSC was one of the first in the city to have introduced a Saturday disco night, pointed out Doshi. A regular feature at the club every Saturday during the ’80s, it was later discontinued. “We wanted to revive it long back but due to some reasons we couldn’t get it done. We are more than happy to bring everyone together and party,” said an excited Priti Doshi, Ashish’s wife.

To be held every Saturday, the disc area will have a snacks corner and drinks bar. The dining area has been kept separate, so that people can have more space to move around and enjoy. Members — old and new — were seen dancing the night away and catching up with each other over drinks and snacks like Masala Kebab and Fish Finger as RJ Jimmy Tangree turned DJ and churned out some modern pop music.
